Sketchy Intelligence

Outside the hallowed college building
With its sturdy quoin joining
In the midst of a steady mist
The young student leans against the heavy wall
And ponders the question growing,
“Why did I score so few points on that last test…”
Stress returns, rising tide of chemicals in stimulation
And he without another thought
Into a pocket reaches and draws out
A small pack of smoking matter.
Hand to light reaches
And in seconds his gasping brain
Settles in under a toxic blue haze
And he is standing in a daze
Eyes in a misty maze of lost gaze
A 7000 chemical cocktail for
The start of the day
And he loses sight of his mistakes
In the swirling surround of his
Shortening days.
